Apr 02,  · As we reported previously, Saxon first three albums are soon to be released not just in CD media books with 24 page color booklets containing lyrics, rare photos and memorabilia, but also on color splatter/swirl vinyl. These new issues of the debut album plus ’s Wheels of Steel and the same year’s Strong Arm of the Law will come.

Jan 01,  · Still struggling with their identity, this finds Saxon still working on their own bridging of Sabbath and Z.Z. Top to forge their own sound. Still, "Stallions of the Highway" and "Backs To The Wall" show signs of the promise that would ultimately be fulfilled with the next three albums while the rest of the record seems a bit un-focused/5(60).

May 28,  · Still Fit to Boogie. Militia Guard. Released in ’79, ahead of the NWOBHM ’s chasing pack, Saxon ’s debut album was a hit-and-miss affair and failed to chart. Its tinny production didn’t help, and nor did the band’s somewhat muddled creative vision, as illustrated by the ponderous, prog-influenced opening one-two of Rainbow Theme and Frozen Rainbow.

Saxon, an Album by Saxon. Released 23 February on EMI (catalog no. 6 2 6; CD). Genres: NWOBHM, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal.
  • Nitilar says:
Three years after its foundation (in as Son of a Bitch), the first Saxon album, simply entitled "Saxon", came like a fresh example of early NWOBHM, produced by ex-Argent singer John Verity and released by French Disques Carrère label in May of and, although its production isn't very good, this still is one of the most enjoyable and distinctive records of this band.
